Vivek is an avid technology investor and advisor to start-ups in the government contracting arena and beyond. He is a former technical manager at Titan Secure Solutions (now part of L-3 Technologies), and a former Oracle technical consultant. Prior to co-founding VMD, Vivek supported clients such as the Federal Aviation Administration and the U.S. With this perspective, he helps to ensure VMD brings a fresh and differentiated approach to our work for customers. He is active in the government contracting and IT space, maintaining a broad and diverse network across agencies, technologies, and the business community. He is also a visionary and creative leader, helping bring dimension and differentiation to every project he supports. Vivek is a proven leader with more than 17 years of senior leadership and technical experience in providing IT services to both government and private sector customers. He brings a wealth of experience to the company – from executive management, to software development, to sales and marketing. Together with Deepti and Anthony, Vivek drives the company’s growth strategy and plays an instrumental role in our business development and capture efforts. Vivek Malhotra co-founded VMD in 2002 and today serves as President. Deepti is a member of the International Peer Mentoring Program (IPMP) for CEOs, Vistage, and is also currently involved in several industry organizations including AFCEA, IAC, ACT-IAC, Washington Women’s Leadership Initiative (WWLI), Greater Washington Board of Trade, and the Leadership of Greater Washington. Deepti has a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Biology from Washington University in St. Prior to her role at VMD, Deepti was a Senior Manager at The Lewin Group, helping to build its healthcare IT division and serving clients such as SAMHSA, ACF, and CMS. Deepti has grown VMD from a small business into a thriving, dynamic organization recognized for its ability to help customers solve complex operational and technical challenges. I was already working from noon til nine with days off in the middle - more.Deepti co-founded VMD in 2002 and has served as our CEO since 2005, guiding VMD’s overall strategic vision as well as providing day-to-day management and oversight. We were very short-staffed, and the company made minimal effort to even acknowledge how hard it was on us. You also don't know how late you'll be staying until the day is nearly over, which is very stressful. With my seniority this shouldn't have been happening, but people were shedding from the company like crazy. The worst part was that, after working the job for three years, I was still getting held over on late flights for 3 or 4 days per week, sometimes as late as 2am. Nobody cares about actual screening quality, and are more interested in your uniform/appearance as well as how little work you cause management. We were required to track our own hours (incl. Six day weeks were about to become mandatory when I left. Management seemed to have a very poor understanding of when rush periods would be in the future, and the screeners not lucky enough to be off would be swamped (relevant to both holidays/events/seasons and by hours in the day). We worked 9 hour days, except there were 6 hours mandatory that you either could choose or would be assigned if you failed to choose. They instructed our Lead Supervisors and Supervisors to report any "concerning" dialogue they overheard, much like the NKVD in Soviet Russia or a tattling elementary school classmate. Immediately, it became evident that they weren't interested in how their employees felt. They took over a previous government contract and reduced our pay but gave us more responsibilities.
